An LNG tanker came under attack from a small boat off Yemen's coast on October 17, the UK Maritime Trade Operations agency reported.
The UKMTO said at least seven men aboard a skiff fired two shots at the tanker near the port city of Al Mukalla. The tanker's armed security team responded with two warning shots, causing the skiff to change course and break off the assault.
The incident occurred in waters off Yemen, a country where maritime attacks have created recurring security challenges for commercial shipping. The UKMTO monitors and alerts vessels to threats in key shipping lanes.
No damage or casualties were reported in the exchange. The tanker continued operations after the armed security response.
